What makes a
great joinery project

Understanding the Space

I start with a clear brief to see the true potential of a room. This should be about understanding exactly how you want to live, and then responding to the architecture to unlock the best possible layout.

Materials

The choice of timber, stone and metal changes how a space looks and how it will gracefully age over time.

Proportion

Exceptional joinery always relies on proportion. It is built on careful choices, like the size of a handle, the subtle detail of a shaker bead, or even the exact height of a base moulding.

Craftsmanship

A beautiful design is only as strong as its making. This is why I work closely with specialist craftsmen who bring the same exacting standards to the build as I do to the design.

Details that matter

Beautiful joinery comes down to hundreds of small elements following in a lovely order. Sometimes this means balancing what is on display with what needs hiding away; other times it is about reading the timber and watching how light shifts across its grain.
